290 torture

dahkinkster I call this image "torture", because some times images don't want to happen. Even after I got this into production, I preferred to noodle with photoshop, turning decent people into obscene cartoon charactars. And so it goes.
At least Kinky Friedman is still with us.
Sometimes the admission of ignorance is the first step to knowledge.

technodeprave I have been totin a camera at work the last few days. There is a gas station where you cannot drink beer or liquor. No word on wine. Then, there is "do not enter" by the soldiers graveyard. A day late, and an armistice short.

gummintgoneawry I opened i.e. to post this. At the MSN home page, the word was there.....

Liberal columnist, author Molly Ivins dies at 62
NFL linebacker suing police
Send feedback to MSN
Now, sending feedback to the evil empire is probably useless. ( And that is probably, not prolly. I saw a poster once where probably had been misspelled into probaby. You are pro, baby!)
A linebacker suing police is a payday for lawyers.
But Molly Ivins can't die! She makes too much sense. Even if she is tagged "liberal", a label she never objected to.

saturday canines

Therighttrack The mailbox is next to the city limits of Chamblee GA. This is the namesake of the blog ( or is the blog the namesake of the city?) Once a sleepy redneck village, "Chambodia" is today a magnets for immigrants.

smackdowntime The blogworld shakedown is starting.
This is to be expected. As the blogging thing begins to expand, some of the early "winners" are giving up the battle. While I would enjoy more readers for my little corner of the cyberworld, I see the anguish caused by too much popularity.
I will continue to cut down trees in an empty forest. Does the sound of my chainsaw bother you?

Byebyepurgatorio Some of my faves have quit the battle. Pugatorio says:
As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been slacking on the posts . It’s been more like PURGASNORIO around here lately. This isn’t due to lack of material, but more a lack of passion. I feel that, while trolling the evangelical gutter for content can be amusing, it doesn’t feed my soul and diverts my creative energies from other more pressing endeavours. I won’t be posting here much in the near future. However, I’ll leave the blog up for a time as a monument to our own self absorbtion and God’s forbearance. Thanks to all of you for your patronage.
What does it avail a man to gain a half million unique visitors, and lose his soul?

condolences Here was my posted comment:
Sigh. Marc I have enjoyed your blog, but if it is not fun anymore, then you should take a break.
Thank you for the effort. I have thought that my own lack of blog motivation is due to a puny readership. I see that having a big following can be just as hazardous.
While I enjoy your poking fun at the foibles of Jesus Worship, I realize that it might come at a cost to your own belief. Maybe if you showed a more “positive” view of modern religion it would feel a bit better. It might not be as funny or popular, but it would be better for Marc

I enjoyed the jesus worship circus at purg. However, I began to sense that, while it was all amusing, it wasn't nourishing to the soul.
When I was 13 years old, I enjoyed pro wrestling. I would write to the local tv station and get tickets to see the weekly taping, and go to the auditorium downtown to see the Friday night event. After a while, though, the knowledge that it was all a show and a farce began to make the matches very boring.
Of course, going behind the scenes at a tv studio was fun. I found a telephone notebook in their dumpster that I use to this day. It has the home phone numbers of Martin Luther King and Lester Maddox.
I see the same syndrome at play in my current association with certain jesus worship blogs. I know that I don't agree with what they say. When they can't answer my arguments, they either insult me or ignore me. This is how "some" jesus worshippers operate.
As for Purgatorio, the operator is a "Good Christian". He enjoys my comments when they are upbeat and humorous, and gently chides me when I am too negative.
I wish him well with his life. His product has been enjoyable, and the archives are still up to be enjoyed. I would hope that whatever his next project is will be as much fun, or , if not that, will enrich his spirit.
Spirt Seeking should be enjoyed, not argued over or made fun of.

canineparty This morning, I went to the mailbox at an area airport. After walking through a magic forest, I walked by a yellow fire hydrant. On the way home, I was assaulted by a dog in a living room. The canine theme permeates the day.

ugly

Fairwarning This is going to be about ugly. If you are looking for beauty, and her mouthy stepsister truth, then look elsewhere. Good Luck.

cleavagealert Beauty is skin deep. Ugly is to the bone.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ugly uses all five senses.

Aesthetics Commentary from blind muscians, one of whom is still alive.
Rahsaan Roland Kirk: I dont want to see you people, you are all too ugly.
Stevie Wonder: All I see are beautiful people.
Rahsaan Roland Kirk: You know, Stevie Wonder wants to make a lot of money, so he can have an operation and see.
Ray Charles: It's crying time again.

Oneliners She is so ugly, she could make a freight train take a dirt road.
He is so ugly, when he was born the doctor slapped his mother.
Is that your face, or did your neck throw up?

Translation French for ugly is : laid m., laide f . Can we say irony?

StuckonUgly There are some Jesus Worship blogs that I like to read. One of them recently made the lighthearted suggestion that ugly people were not welcome at the church of the other one. The recepient of this comment found this to be "the deeply offensive false accusation he keeps leveling at me."
FromTheMorning is the one standing up for the pulchritude challenged.
Pyromaniacs is the aggreived party here. They say that ugly people "are not only welcome at my church; many of us actually participate in the ministry there". Well, I believe you. I have seen the pictures.
Of course, ugly has another meaning. In fact, this is the first meaning I heard for the U word, years before i connected it to people with unpleasant faces. It is about ugly behavior. People that are mean and cruel to each other. That is ugly.
Now, Pyromaniacs has a lively dispute going on right now. While I haven't read the reams of commentary relative to the matter, It has something to do with a video which says that God loves everyone. Apparently, some folks don't think that is Christian enough.
TeamPyro has lots of disputes, and has angered a lot of people, myself included. This latest episode of trashing FromTheMorning is just the latest ugly episode involving the Pyros.FromTheMorning is a friendly, fun place, which welcomes comments from yours truely.I am banned from Pyro. *sobs*
I agree that church should not be a fashion show. Of course, I haven't been in 35 years.
Pyrodude, from the ugly behavior that I see at your blog, I have no doubt that your church is crawling with ugly people.

cholesteral

Turnthepage Yet another pivotal post. After laboriously backing up 150 posts last night, it is time to go with blogger 2.The change has so far been fairly painless, but I haven't made the first post yet.

Princeathalftime The playoffs are over for this week, and not a minute too soon. I know the litany of the cholestoral meds by heart...not for people with a liver problem, or for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. I am also going to skip the Sixty Minutes interview with George W. Bush. It may cause liver problems.

pickthewinner
Of the four teams standing at this point, it is tough to pick an obvious winner. Indy didn't get a touchdown, and has a history of impressive regular seasons followed by playoff fizzes. They are the Atlanta Braves of the NFL.
The Colts will be playing the Patriots. Logic says the Pats should be watching on TV, but they just whipped San Diego. The Chargers are another hot regular season bunch that doesn't get it in January.
In NFC, the Saints will play the Bears. Maybe we need to dump half of Lake Michigan on the ghettos of Chicago and see how they perform. I gotta like the Saints, if only because they are Southern, which Indiana, Illinois, and Massachusetts are not.
